Focus on Patient Treatment
Optim Oncology’s entire strategy is based
on optimizing patient outcome and creating a positive patient experience
at our centers. We optimize patient outcome through utilization of
advanced treatment and technologies. Our brand represents leading
healthcare services that are normally found in an advanced hospital
or university medical center environment; Optim is focused on this
level of medical care. Our strategy is to invest capital and knowledge
in existing centers to upgrade their capabilities to improve patient
outcome. We work together with the major center constituents (patients,
radiation oncologists, referring physicians, Medicare/payers, and
center owners) to determine the right strategy to achieve these objectives.
Partnering Approach
Optim Oncology develops partnerships with key
constituents involved in radiation therapy treatment. Our mission
is to create opportunities for radiation oncologists, referring physicians,
center owners and hospitals to form meaningful and profitable partnerships.
Our objective is to provide optimal patient care and create value
for the center. Examples of partnering include:
- A radiation therapy center is owned by an experienced
physician who at this point of his career is looking to minimize
financial commitment and risk. He is utilizing standard analog
radiation technology. With capital invested from Optim Oncology,
the center upgrades to IMRT technology which results in enhanced
reimbursement and improved patient care. The physician owner is
allowed to grow his practice without incurring additional financial
risk or infusing additional personal capital into the center.
- A large urological referral group is interested
in monetizing its patient referral stream. Optim Oncology works
with the urology group to source a radiation therapy center that
is looking for additional capital and increase patient volume.
A joint venture is formed between Optim Oncology, the referring
urological group, and the center owner. With the additional capital,
another vault with IMRT capability is developed. The additional
referral stream results in increased patient volume and revenue.
The value of the center is increased significantly by this new
partnership.
- An existing radiation therapy center is operating
at low capacity. Optim Oncology partners with the center to develop
a stronger referral network and negotiates improved payer contracts.
Also, Optim Oncology provides practice management services that
increase revenue realization and lower operating costs. Through
these efforts, the center’s top line increases and with
increased operating efficiencies the center shows significant
profitability gains.
- A local hospital has been losing market share
to independent radiology centers resulting in lost profitability.
Optim Oncology works with the hospital to partner with local radiation
therapy clinics to “outsource” radiation therapy in
a participative manner. The hospital now drives straight margin
to its financial bottom line and focuses its capital/efforts on
more profitable hospital operating areas.
