Center Owners
We look at every center as a unique partnering opportunity.
We work with center owners to understand your personal goals and
objectives. We then assess the current status of your center and
by leveraging the Optim Value Plan, we develop a roadmap to help
you achieve your goals and objectives. This process is 100% collaborative;
we do this with you not at you.
The strategy for each center typically involves a
combination of capital, strategic services, and operational services.
Our involvement can be as simple as providing expertise and capital
to upgrade your technology to IMRT or IGRT or as involved as purchasing
part of the center. We also try to create opportunities for key
constituents (i.e. referring physicians, local hospitals) to have
a stake in the success of your center. This joint venture approach
aligns constituent objectives and goals to help optimize the success
of your center. Whether it’s developing a strategic relationship
with a referring group or negotiating a joint venture with a local
hospital radiation therapy department, Optim Oncology focuses on
innovative ways to create value in your practice.
Our centers can also leverage the “combined”
operational benefits of a larger organization. As an individual
center, you are not able to benefit from the economies of a larger
organization. Whether its practice management, billing/cash management,
purchasing, accounting/human resources, or information technology,
you can leverage our operational services to gain economies for
your practice. We also provide access to a national resource base
and outsourcing capability for key medical service providers including
radiation oncologists, dosimetrists and physicists.
Referring Physicians
We recognize that the key player in the “value
chain’ for radiation therapy centers are the referring physicians.
Most centers in the United States are not operating at full capacity;
in fact, most are operating at below 60% of capacity. A key focus
area for Optim Oncology is helping center owners drive additional
patient flow to increase revenue and margin to their centers. By
enhancing and extending referral relationships, this capacity can
be better utilized.
Optim Oncology is also looking at partnering with
referring physicians and physician groups to create value for the
center with an increased patient base and also provide an opportunity
for the referring physician to monetize this referral base. With
careful consideration to Stark and Anti-Kickback laws, we will create
scenarios where the referring physician has an equity stake in the
radiation therapy center and can share in the technical revenue
generated by the enhanced referral stream. This is a “win-win”
for the center owner and the referring physician.
Hospitals
The healthcare industry is seeing a rising trend
in the migration of traditionally profitable hospital medical diagnostic
services, treatments and surgeries to independently/physician owned
“off-hospital” medical centers and Ambulatory Surgical
Centers (ASC). Physicians have realized that there is patient demand
for a better experience in a smaller/simpler environment and that
there is significant financial benefit in sharing/owning the technical
revenue component of reimbursements. Because of this, many hospital
departments, including radiation therapy, are experiencing declines
in patient volume and profitability.
Optim Oncology continues to recognize the value of
the local hospital as a medical services provider to the community
and a key societal asset for many healthcare needs (i.e. research,
major surgeries, chronic illness treatment, and emergency services).
Therefore, we help centers and hospitals partner in providing radiation
therapy treatment. We find that in many cases hospital departments
and local centers are not operating at capacity and have duplicative
overhead structures. By forming strategic teaming agreements, we
can help both centers and hospitals generate profitable radiation
therapy services and create a profitable environment. This “coopetition”
benefits the center and the hospital and provides overall benefits
to the local community.
Investors
Optim Oncology provides unique investment opportunities.
We are offering corporate investment opportunities such that investors
can participate in the overall growth and success of Optim Oncology.
This is a unique perspective in the industry; our competition typically
only looks to aquire centers and does not offer overall investment
opportunities at the corporate level. With our focus on providing
optimal health care, the majority of our corporate investors are
physicians. We are looking for investors that are interested in
contributing to the well-being of society and the continued delivery
of quality healthcare. The Optim Oncology corporate investment model
is typically a longer term/growth oriented strategy. We would value
the opportunity to meet with you and discuss the Optim Oncology
strategy and business model.
Each of our centers has a unique deal structure.
We typically look for partnering opportunities with existing center
owners but also seek investors that have interest in an individual
center investment. We will work with you to understand your specific
objectives and match your needs to a center opportunity. If your
investment strategy is income oriented and you are looking for a
“quick” return on investment, then an individual center
investment strategy may be more appropriate for you. Once again,
we would appreciate the opportunity to meet with you and better
understand your investment objectives and determine if Optim Oncology
provides a fit.
